Hispanic Heritage Bowl Flyer

Lancaster ISD will host its annual Hispanic Heritage Bowl on Saturday, October 15, 2022. The district is excited to bring the academic challenge back for another year of fun and friendly competition. The Hispanic Heritage Bowl theme is “Food, Family, and Fun.”

The Hispanic Heritage Bowl will take place at Lancaster Middle School (822 W. Pleasant Run Rd. Lancaster, TX 75146) from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., featuring student academic teams from all district campuses and an art competition. The event is family-friendly, and the community is encouraged to attend.

Lancaster ISD recommends wearing masks and face coverings for the event, but they are not required.

What is Hispanic Heritage Month?

Every year, America observes National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Why does Hispanic Heritage Month begin on September 15?

The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day, or Día de la Raza, on October 12, falls within these 30 days.
