Rosa Hernandez

Lancaster ISD is pleased to announce Rosa E. Hernandez has been named the new Chief Academic Officer. Hernandez joins Lancaster ISD with over 23 years of experience in urban education and has a proven track record of closing the achievement gap. 

“I am excited to join the team and looking forward to leading and serving the students,” said Hernandez. “I’m passionate about serving the Lancaster ISD community and ensuring every student receives a quality, well-rounded, and rigorous education as the new Chief Academic Officer.” 

Hernandez is a native of Monterrey, Mexico, and is passionate about ensuring all students receive a quality education. During her career, she has served as a clerk, teacher assistant, middle school ESL teacher, assistant principal, middle school and high school principal, Lead Principal, School Office Director, PowerUp Leadership Director, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Houston ISD, while also serving as the CEO of P&R Educational Solutions, LLC. 

Under her leadership, campuses earned the following Texas Education Agency Distinction Designations: Top 25% Student Progress, Top 25% Closing Performance Gap, Post-Secondary Readiness, and Academic Achievement in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Hernandez also successfully supported the passing of significant district bonds and supported 18 schools in moving out of T.E.A. "Improvement Required" to "Met Standard".

Lancaster ISD Superintendent, Dr. A. Katrise Perera is looking forward to Hernandez joining the district leadership team. 

“Mrs. Hernandez will bring a wealth of urban district-leadership experience that will immediately enhance and impact teacher effectiveness and student achievement outcomes in Lancaster ISD,” said Perera. “We are excited to welcome her to our team and look forward to her contributions as a vital part of student success in our district.”

Rosa earned her associate’s in arts degree from Houston Community College-Southeast Campus, a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston-Downtown, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston-Downtown. She also received her principal and superintendent certifications from Region IV and the University of St. Thomas.
