August 26, 2026, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX -- Lancaster ISD is pleased to announce that board vice-president Quinnie Nichols has been selected to participate as a member of the Texas Association of School Board’s Leadership TASB Class of 2027.
LTASB is the premier school board trustee leadership training program of its kind in Texas. It connects school board leaders to their purpose in serving Texas’ 5.5 million public school students. More than 1,000 trustees have completed the yearlong program since its founding in 1990.
“Trustee Nichols’ selection for Leadership TASB is a tremendous reflection of her commitment to strong governance, continuous learning, and serving the Lancaster ISD community,” said Lancaster ISD Superintendent Dr. A. K. Perera. “She brings thoughtful leadership and a deep commitment to our students, families, and staff to the Board of Trustees, and I am confident this experience will further strengthen her impact as a school board leader. We are proud to see her represent Lancaster ISD alongside trustees from across Texas and look forward to the knowledge and perspective she will bring back to our district.”
Each year, a cohort of experienced board members is selected based on demonstrated school district and community leadership. The trustees represent districts from across the state that vary in size and the student populations they serve.
“On behalf of TASB, I want to congratulate the newest cohort of trustees on their acceptance into Leadership TASB,” said TASB Acting Executive Director Tiffany Dunne-Oldfield. “LTASB continues to be a highly transformative program, designed to challenge and inspire leaders. Over the next year, these trustees will grow in ways they never anticipated as they expand their knowledge of board governance, education policy, and board leadership all with the goal of advancing excellent student outcomes for the more than 5.5 million public school students in Texas.”
The program will begin in Houston, Oct. 7-9 at txEDCON, the largest gathering of public school leaders in the state, which is hosted by the Texas Association of School Administrators and TASB.
The members will travel to school districts around the state, with visits to Houston, Abilene, Austin, and Corpus Christi before concluding the program in June 2027 at Summer Leadership Institute in Grapevine. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will earn the Master Trustee designation.
