June 2, 2025, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX -- To kick off a wonderful summer full of intensive learning, Lancaster ISD started the 2025 Summer Bridge Up program. The summer program is an incentive for students who need additional academic support during the summer months and are willing to expand their learning on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) skills beyond the academic school year.
The Bridge Up experience will run from June 2nd through the 26th. This immersive experience is geared towards students in grades 3 through 8. This face-to-face, hands-on program is crafted to keep young learners engaged, inspired, and challenged throughout the summer. Bridge Up offers students an exciting opportunity to deepen their passion for STEAM in a creative and collaborative environment.
To kickoff the program, students were tasked with designing their own shoes, which intentionally combines creativity with problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Classroom whiteboards demonstrated the structure of a shoe from the sole all the way to the toe box. Students based the construction of their sole on the technical requirements of their choice sport, while their individuality guided their choice of patterns and color. It was evident that these tigers are driven, as some students used their creative liberty to work the colors and logo of their dream colleges into their shoe designs.
As the summer continues, the energy and engagement from both students and staff make it clear that Bridge Up is more than just a program; it's an enriching and memorable experience. Most importantly, students are enjoying every moment of it.
