May 17, 2025, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX --Before receiving their high school diplomas, seniors from Lancaster STEM Early College High School (LSECHS) celebrated a major milestone by graduating from Dallas College on Saturday, May 17. A total of 55 students earned their Associate of Science degrees, officially becoming college graduates ahead of their high school commencement on May 20.

The Lancaster scholars were easy to spot among the several thousand Dallas College graduates. Each wore a bright orange V-stole, a signature accessory that helped families and Lancaster ISD staff cheer them on from the stands.

Through the early-college program, students complete up to 60 hours of transferable college credit while finishing their high-school requirements. Saturday’s ceremony confirmed them as college graduates; Tuesday’s commencement at Lancaster High School will add their high-school diplomas.

“These students balanced college coursework, high-school classes, and extracurricular commitments, often all in the same day,” said LSECHS Principal Ashley Tippit. “Their focus and resilience set a strong example for the classes that follow.”

Superintendent Dr. A. K. Perera added that the accomplishment speaks to Lancaster ISD’s commitment to opening doors for students. “We are proud of every senior who seized this opportunity and showed what dedication can achieve,” she said.

With dual credentials in hand, the new graduates are headed to four-year universities, technical programs, military service, and the workforce ready for the next step after high school.
