For the second consecutive year, Lancaster ISD has partnered with The Concilio to bring another educational advancement program to parents in the district. On Monday, December 4, a second cohort of Lancaster ISD parents graduated from a Concilio program. This year, parents completed the Parents as Learners (PAL) program.

The PAL program gives parents the confidence and tools to encourage the language, motor, social-emotional, and other skills needed for their children to be ready for kindergarten. In addition, the program empowers parents to partner with their children’s teachers and schools.

Thirty-three Lancaster ISD parents completed the program; of those, six parents have also signed up for Dallas College ESL/GED Classes. The Concilio partnership remains a great way to create a parent network for support, especially for newcomer parents. The Lancaster ISD Emergent Bilingual Department celebrated the completion of the program with a graduation ceremony.
