Telehealth Services
Telehealth Brings Healthcare to Lancaster ISD
Through a partnership with Children’s Health (formerly Children’s Medical Center), Lancaster Independent School District offers Telehealth services in school nurse offices throughout the district.
Telehealth provides students with convenient access to a healthcare provider during the school day, helping families receive timely medical care without always needing to leave school for an in-person physician visit.
A Telehealth Visit May Include:
Parent/Guardian Contact: The parent or guardian will be contacted with appointment information and invited to participate in the visit. Parent participation during the visit is welcome but is not required.
Virtual Medical Examination: The school nurse will assist the Children’s Health healthcare provider with the examination using secure computer and video technology and specialized Telehealth equipment.
Evaluation of Common Illnesses: Telehealth may be used to evaluate conditions such as fever, earaches, pink eye, rashes or skin irritation, coughs, colds, and other common health concerns.
Prescriptions, If Needed: If medication is prescribed, the healthcare provider can send the prescription to the parent/guardian’s preferred pharmacy.
After-Visit Summary: An After-Visit Summary will be provided to the parent/guardian with information regarding the visit and any recommended follow-up care.
