August 18, 2026, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX -- Lancaster Independent School District has once again earned an “A” rating for Superior Achievement under the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), demonstrating the district’s continued commitment to responsible financial management, accountability, and transparency.
For the 2025-2026 rating year, Lancaster ISD received a preliminary score of 96 out of 100, placing the district in the highest performance category of the state’s financial accountability system. The rating is based on financial data from the 2024-2025 school year. The district’s score improved from its previous rating of 92, reflecting continued strength in key areas of financial management.
The Texas FIRST system evaluates school districts on a range of financial indicators designed to measure sound financial practices, including financial reporting, debt management, fund balance stability, liquidity, solvency, compliance, and transparency
Lancaster ISD successfully passed all four critical indicators evaluated by the system. The district submitted its Annual Financial Report and required data to the Texas Education Agency on time, received an unmodified opinion on its financial statements, remained current on its debt agreements, and made timely payments to required governmental agencies.
The district also passed additional indicators related to its financial position and long-term financial health.
“This A rating and improved score are a reflection of Lancaster ISD’s commitment to responsible financial stewardship and accountability,” said Lancaster ISD Superintendent Dr. A. K. Perera. “Every dollar entrusted to our district represents an opportunity to support our students, staff, and schools. We are proud of the strong financial practices that helped us earn a score of 96, and we will continue to make thoughtful, transparent decisions that protect our district’s financial health and keep student success at the center of our work.”
Lancaster ISD remains committed to maintaining strong financial practices and ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly in support of students, staff, and the Lancaster community.
