April 10, 2026, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX --Lancaster ISD is taking a proactive and strategic approach to long-term financial planning to ensure the district remains stable and well-positioned to support students and staff. In response to years of unchanged state funding for public education, along with rising operational costs and shifts in enrollment, the district is introducing a voluntary Early Resignation Incentive.

The initiative is designed to provide flexibility for employees who may already be considering a transition, while also supporting the district’s ability to plan effectively for future staffing needs.

Participation in the program is completely voluntary, with no target number of participants. Employees are encouraged to take time to ask questions and gather the information they need before making a personal decision that is right for them. The incentive is available to eligible central office and administrative support employees in certain pay grade levels who meet established program requirements.

This opportunity may be especially beneficial for employees who are planning a transition, such as retirement, relocation, or pursuing another career path, and allows the district to thoughtfully support those decisions.

Eligible employees who choose to participate will receive a one-time $1,000 incentive payment, which will be included in their final paycheck based on their pay schedule.

Participation in the program requires employees to meet all eligibility criteria, including current employment status and service requirements. The deadline to participate is April 17, 2026.

The district has outlined the details in its Early Resignation Incentive document, available on the district’s website.

“This approach allows us to be thoughtful in our planning while also respecting the personal decisions of our employees,” Dr. A. K. Perera, Superintendent of Schools, shared. “Our goal is to remain transparent, responsible, and focused on continuing to serve our students at the highest level.”

Lancaster ISD remains committed to maintaining strong educational services while making strategic decisions that support both students and staff.
