Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX -Lancaster ISD is putting students at the center of decision-making with the launch of the 2025–2026 Superintendent’s Key Communicators. This year’s diverse group of student leaders from every grade level, campus, and organization came together for their first meeting of the school year to share their voices, ideas, and perspectives on how to shape the future of the district.
The group is composed of diverse student representatives from across the district, bringing together thoughts and perspectives from all grade levels, organizations, and backgrounds. Students are invited to join the group as freshmen and continue their journey through their senior year, developing leadership skills, building academic excellence, and embracing the value of service along the way.
Throughout the school year, the group meets monthly with Lancaster ISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. A. K. Perera. These meetings provide opportunities for meaningful conversations about academic programs, campus culture, extracurricular opportunities, and strategies to strengthen student success. Their input helps guide district-level decision-making, ensuring that students remain at the center of education in Lancaster ISD.
This year’s opening meeting featured Lancaster ISD Director of Human Capital and Strategic Initiatives and proud Lancaster High School alumna Cherish Pipkins. She inspired the Key Communicators with her message, “You Can’t Spell CuLTure Without LT,” encouraging students to embrace their leadership roles and ensure everyone contributes to a positive school culture. Pipkins closed by teaching the group a Lancaster High School chant that was popular when she was in high school, which she hopes to hear students performing at future school events.
The students enjoyed the session and are looking forward to next month meeting. Throughout the year, the Key Communicators will participate in engaging sessions with community members about culture, life after graduation, leadership, and essential life skills.
The Superintendent’s Key Communicators reflect Lancaster ISD’s commitment to partnership, leadership, and student empowerment. By listening to and learning from its students, the district ensures that tomorrow’s leaders have a seat at the table today.
