Updated Wednesday, January 28 at 3:30pm: After today’s rise in temperature, significant melting, and a thorough assessment of our streets, campus parking lots, buildings, and surrounding neighborhoods, Lancaster ISD will return to school on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
While most streets and campus areas are clear of ice, there may still be some isolated areas, particularly in shaded locations, where snow and ice remain. On our campuses, these areas will be clearly blocked off to help ensure safe access for students, staff, and families.
We encourage everyone to be mindful of potentially slick areas in your neighborhoods and while traveling. Although these conditions are minimal, we stress that all families and district employees drive safely and take extra care as you drive.
Please take your time in the morning as you prepare to return to work or drop your student off at school. Our transportation department is prepared to transport students in the morning, and our campuses will be ready to welcome all students and staff. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to prioritize safety. We look forward to seeing our students and staff back on campus.
Updated Tuesday, January 27 at 3:30pm: After careful review of road conditions across our district, city, and surrounding neighborhoods, we have significant concerns about the ability for staff, families, and students to safely travel. Due to these ongoing conditions, Lancaster ISD will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
We will continue to closely monitor weather and road conditions for Thursday, January 29, and will communicate with parents and guardians if campus operations are impacted. Please continue to stay safe and warm.
Updated Sunday, January 25 at 3:00 pm: Due to unsafe road conditions, continued low temperatures, lingering snow and ice, and several areas experiencing intermittent power outages, school will be canceled on Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27.
All athletic games originally scheduled for Tuesday have been moved to Wednesday, pending weather conditions. The District will continue monitoring weather conditions for Wednesday, January 28, and will send communication to parents and guardians if campus operations are impacted.
January 23, 2026, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX - Due to inclement weather conditions, all Lancaster ISD district offices and campuses will be closed on Monday, January 26. All sporting events and after-school activities scheduled are also canceled.
