September 11, 2025, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, TX -- In recognition of Attendance Awareness Month, Lancaster ISD has launched a series of creative initiatives designed to engage students, parents, staff, and the community in reinforcing the importance of attending school each day.
Staff and students across Lancaster ISD are showcasing their school spirit through a variety of contests and recognition programs designed to celebrate teaching, learning, and the importance of attendance.
Throughout the month of September, campuses across Lancaster ISD will host a variety of activities highlighting the Attendance Rocks theme, including:
Essay Contests – Students at George Washington Carver Lancaster Middle School, Barack and Michelle Obama 9th Grade Campus, and Lancaster High School will write about why attendance matters.
Door Decoration Contest – Lancaster Early College High School and all 5th grade classes will showcase their creativity by designing classroom doors that promote Attendance Rocks.
Attendance Rally – The GWC 6th Grade STEM Learning Center will host an Attendance Rocks Rally, featuring Lancaster High School varsity athletes who will inspire students to value attendance and school pride.
Campus-Wide Door Contest – Every campus will participate by decorating front office and cafeteria doors to spotlight the Attendance Rocks theme.
Together, these activities encourage student engagement, celebrate creativity, and reinforce the message that showing up matters.
In addition, parent and community events will take place to ensure everyone is working together to promote the importance of regular student attendance:
Lancaster Tire and Auto Community Partnership – Lancaster Tire and Auto is partnering with Lancaster ISD to provide family incentives. On September 17, parents and staff will receive a state inspection discount, followed by an oil change discount on September 24. This partnership reflects our community-wide commitment to removing barriers so every student is present and prepared to learn.
Lancaster ISD’s Attendance Rocks Initiatives reflect a district-wide commitment to student success. By involving students, families, staff, and community partners, the district is working to build strong attendance habits that support achievement both inside and outside the classroom.
