January 19, 2024, LANCASTER, Texas--Lancaster ISD is proud to announce Alina Avila, from Rosa Parks/Millbrook Elementary School, as the winner of the 2024 District Spelling Bee!
We also want to highlight the following students:
2nd place scholar, Kevin Philips, from GWC 6th Grade STEM Learning Center 
3rd place scholar, Derrick Sellers, from Lancaster Middle School
Spelling Bee Highlights: 
The winning championship word was: ShoalBoth Alina & Kevin lasted from round 14 – 62, setting a new round record for Lancaster ISD!First and second place finishers will go on to compete in the Dallas County Public School Spelling Bee on February 17.
