Lancaster ISD is pleased to announce Crystal Cromer has joined the district leadership team as the Director of Special Education. Cromer is returning to Lancaster ISD after serving as an
Education Specialist for the Department of Review and Support in the Office of Special Populations and Monitoring at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) from 2020 to 2023.
During her tenure in Lancaster ISD, Cromer served in various roles, including Instructional Specialist, Special Education Instructional Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Special Education. In each position, she consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, a commitment to inclusive education, and unwavering advocacy for students with special needs.
“I am elated to return to Lancaster ISD,” said Cromer. “I can’t wait to continue working with and for the special needs students in the district. This year, I want to create more family engagement opportunities and increase academic growth for the students. I also look forward to further developing the partnerships with the campuses and the special education department.”
In her role at the TEA, Cromer was crucial in evaluating statewide policies, regulations, and guidelines about special education. She collaborated with educators, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state laws while promoting innovative practices to enhance educational outcomes for students with disabilities.

Additionally, she is returning to our district with enhanced skills that will allow her to address the unique needs of students with diverse abilities. She is a true leader in the field of education and is prepared to join our quest to elevate the quality of teaching and learning across our district,” said Dr. Katrise Perera, Lancaster ISD Superintendent of Schools.
Cromer earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas. She went on to earn a Master of Education in Special Education degree from Grand Canyon University. Her dedication to professional growth and leadership led her to complete the School Leadership Principal Certification Program at Lamar University.
