First Day of School
The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 15, 2022. In order to maintain in-person classes throughout the semester and keep our children, staff, and community safe, we are asking parents to make the commitment to partnering with us on doing morning health screenings on their child(ren) before they arrive at school and following our district's COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
COVID-19 & District Mask Requirement
Lancaster ISD highly recommends that students and staff wear face masks while at school as a health and safety protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The wearing of a face mask is only a recommendation and not a requirement. In addition, parents should monitor their child’s symptoms each morning before they arrive at school. Our efforts are to keep students, parents, and staff safe as we return to school on August 15, 2022. This information constantly evolves, and direct parent communication regarding COVID-19 will be shared consistently. Furthermore, parents may access all COVID-19-related information and review our COVID-19 dashboard by clicking here.
Parent Health Screening Questions for Lancaster ISD Students:
Do any of the following health conditions apply to you?
- Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
- Sore throat
- New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
- Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
- Muscle or body aches
- Loss of taste and/or smell
- Fatigue
- New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
- Known close contact with a person who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 if exposure to the active confirmed case occurred within the last 14 days
If your child(ren) demonstrates or exhibits one or more of the conditions above, for the safety of all individuals, please keep your child home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours. If you feel your student may have contracted COVID-19, please see a doctor immediately.

District-Wide Clear Backpack Requirement
This summer, our district met to review our safety and security protocols and emergency management procedures thoroughly. As a result of these meetings, several safety and security enhancements will take place this school year. One safety enhancement will require all Lancaster ISD students to carry a clear or mesh backpack. This decision is a preventive safety and security measure, and all students who attend Lancaster ISD must adhere to this requirement.
Backpacks must be clear or mesh, and students may carry a non-clear pouch no larger than 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches to hold personal items, such as cellphones, money, and hygiene products. Below is a list of retailers where the backpacks can be ordered.

Bus Routes
Please review the bus routes and transportation guidelines. Parents, helping your student become familiar with his/her route before the first day of school will help them feel less anxious on the first day of school.
Find your attendance zone here.
Child Nutrition
Please click here to complete the free and reduced lunch application.
Lancaster ISD offers an online payment system at MySchoolBucks.com. To add money to your child’s lunch account, visit the website, and create a free account. Features include:
- Managing all your children’s payments and balances from one account;
- Securely fund your student’s account via credit card, debit card, or checking account;
- Low balance alerts;
- Recurring payment options;
- Ability to review purchase history.
Lancaster ISD students (Kindergarten through 8th grade) will enjoy free breakfast and lunch during the 2022-2023 school year due to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
The CEP allows campuses to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to enrolled students without collecting free and reduced lunch applications.
The Lancaster ISD Child Nutrition Department received approval to provide CEP for all elementary campuses, George W. Carver 6th-grade Center, and Lancaster Middle School. The district will utilize the provision to alleviate the need for free and reduced lunch applications, improve health and wellness for students, and reduce financial stress on families.
The following schools are qualified and will operate under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP):
Belt Line Elementary School
Houston Elementary School
Pleasant Elementary School
Rolling Hills Elementary School
Rosa Parks-Millbrook Elementary School
West Main Elementary School
George Washington Carver 6th Grade STEM Learning Center
Elsie Robertson Lancaster STEM Middle School
