New Interim Principal Appointed at Lancaster High School
Lancaster High School Assistant Principal, Derek Stricklin, has been appointed interim principal of the LHS campus. Stricklin, who is currently in his fourth year as assistant principal of LHS, will transition to the top campus leadership role on December 1, 2021.
As a campus assistant principal, Stricklin has built intentional relationships with students and has established shared leadership responsibilities with the LHS staff to create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all students. During his swift transition, he plans to continue student success while focusing on providing equitable education for all students while enhancing parent partnerships and campus communication.
"For the past four years, I have had the opportunity to observe and learn from our campus principal, Mrs. Webb. I thank her for allowing me to lead, serve, and learn in my position as assistant principal," Stricklin said. "I am excited about this opportunity, and I am ready to get started on building a positive, student-centered school culture. I look forward to celebrating current Lancaster High School traditions while building new traditions fueled by student success. I will start by collaborating with staff, students, parents, and community members to finish this school year strong."
During Stricklin’s 19 years in education, he has held previous roles as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at South Oak Cliff High School, Wilmer-Hutchins High School, and David W. Carter High School. He is a proud Lancaster High School alumni from the class of 1996, and completed his bachelor's degree at Abilene Christian University and master’s in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University.
On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 6:00 pm, Lancaster High School will host an in-person principal meet and greet in the school’s cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to attend the event to meet Mr. Stricklin and receive information about the leadership transition and what to expect for the remainder of the school year.
