Lancaster ISD Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month

Lancaster ISD is proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15, to October 15. During this month, the District will take the time to reflect and celebrate the many contributions to our nation from Hispanic and Latino Americans.

It's almost time! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Lancaster ISD will host its annual Hispanic Heritage Bowl Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 8 am to 1 pm, at Lancaster Middle School. The Hispanic Heritage Bowl will feature student academic teams from our district campuses and an art competition.

The Hispanic Heritage Bowl is a fun family event for all to attend, and we want to remind you that masks are required inside the campus.

If you can't make the event but would like to watch the live tournament rounds, click on the links below. The junior and senior competition rounds will begin at 9:00 am.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Lancaster ISD will share Hispanic Heritage Facts on Facebook that highlight notable Hispanic and Latino individuals and groups. The fact sharing will start with the importance of why the celebration begins in the middle of September.

HHMSeptember 15 is a significant date because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30-day period.

Lancaster ISD celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the impact of Hispanics in our District and community. Additionally, the District will commemorate the month with campus celebrations, lessons, and the annual Hispanic Heritage Bowl academic competition.

On October 2, 2021, from 8 am to 1 pm, at Lancaster Middle School, the Hispanic Heritage Bowl will feature student academic teams from our district campuses and an art competition. The Hispanic Heritage Bowl is a fun family event for all to attend.
