Mission Statement
The Mission of Lancaster Independent School District’s Bilingual Education One Way Dual Language Program, in partnership with parents, guardians, and the community is to provide a rigorous academic program with 21st Century standards and a safe and orderly environment that empowers and promotes bilingual and bi-literate citizens that are responsible and productive.
Vision Statement
The goal of Lancaster ISD’s Bilingual One Way Dual Language educational program model is to enable limited English proficient students to become academically proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English and Spanish language through the development of fluency and literacy skills in English and Spanish.
One Way Dual Program
Lancaster ISD’s Bilingual One Way Dual Language Program is an educational approach in which students learn two languages in an instructional setting that integrates subject content presented in English and Spanish. The program shall use instructional approaches designed to meet the needs of limited English proficient students by promoting bilingualism, biliteracy, cross-cultural awareness, and high academic achievement.
The curriculum content of the program is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Bilingual Education is offered at Houston Elementary for grades Pk4 through 5th.
