The psychiatric facilities listed above offer assessments and if needed provide 24-hour inpatient care for children and adolescents whose acute symptoms require a safe and therapeutic environment. Ages treated vary per facility.

 

Local hospitals also assess patients in their emergency room for medical issues and are able to provide mental health evaluations if deemed necessary.

 
The Victim Intervention Program (VIP)/Rape Crisis Center at Parkland helps those who have experienced abuse and violence including sexual assault, family violence, intimate partner violence, human trafficking or other types of violent crime. VIP Crisis Hotline:

Denton County MHMR provides a crisis hotline service accredited by the American Association of Suicidology (AAS). Hotline staff provides information, support, intake appointments, intervention, and referrals to callers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams (MCOTs) provide face-to-face clinical assessments to individuals in crisis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The purpose of the clinical assessment is to determine an individual’s risk of harm to him/herself or to others, and to determine the least restrictive treatment setting in which an individual can safely receive mental health services.

Suicide Prevention Treatment:

 

SPARC: Suicide Prevention and Resilience at Children’s Health is an intensive outpatient multidisciplinary, program for youth at risk for suicidal behaviors who are stable and safe and can receive care while attending school and remaining in their home.  The program focuses on skill building and safety planning and provides clinical care, training and research opportunities to reduce teen suicide.
