Monday, February 19, 2018, is a regular school day for Lancaster ISD. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning!

2017-2018 Rezoning Information

As part of the recent bond package, Lancaster ISD is replacing two elementary schools—West Main and Pleasant Run—and closing Lancaster Elementary which will be converted to a ninth grade center.

In preparation for the 2017-2018 School Year, Lancaster ISD has redrawn the boundaries for its elementary schools to balance enrollment among the six elementary campuses.

In Lancaster ISD, students are assigned to schools based on where they live. On this page, you will find attendance zones for the 2016-2017 school year and the 2017-2018 school year which has been approved by the Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees. If you are unsure about where your student will attend, please click HERE to locate your zone based on your address.

Please note: The maps found here are a guide. If your address or future address falls near the District boundary, you may wish to contact us to verify attendance. Lancaster ISD accepts out-of-district transfer students and the District does allow employees who live in other districts to enroll their children in Lancaster ISD.

Frequently Asked Questions

During the Fall semester, we collected feedback from parents and staff. Below are answers to questions/concerns related to the rezoning process.

Principals & Teachers

Who will be the Principal for West Main?

Nakesha Reddick

Who will be the Principal for Pleasant Run?

Kelli Watson

Where is the current principal from Pleasant Run (Mrs. Nevels) going?

She is transitioning to another role in the district at the secondary level.

How were the principals chosen?

The principals were assigned to their campus by the superintendent in collaboration with the Lancaster ISD Leadership Team with careful consideration and in line with board policy.

Where will the teachers go?

In most cases, elementary teachers will have an opportunity to move to the respective campus of their current principal.

If a new teacher moves to the area and lives outside of the zoning area of West Main or Pleasant Run, will his/her children be able to attend the new campuses?

No. Only current employee’s children attending the campuses will be allowed to attend West Main or Pleasant Run Elementary. The students will be encouraged to attend other Lancaster ISD campuses.

Selection Process

Why was my child selected to go to another campus?

Due to rezoning, some addresses did not fall within the rezoning areas for some students to remain at their current campus.

If my child was previously forced transferred to another campus but is being rezoned to another campus, can we choose to stay where we are?

Each parent will have an opportunity to appeal the process within the given time frame. Informal appeals will begin January 18. We hope to resolve your concern as quickly as possible.

Will my 4th or 5th grade student at Houston Elementary be able to stay there and finish at that campus?

Due to rezoning we request that your child attend the previously identified campus.

Will new or additional out of district students be able to attend West Main or Pleasant Run?

No.  Only students who live within West Main’s or Pleasant Run’s attendance zone will be allowed to attend those campuses. We would like to accommodate new or additional out of district students at Belt Line Elementary.

If I did not receive a letter, how can I find out what campus we are zoned for?

You may click HERE to search for your Elementary Attendance Zone based on your address.

Bilingual Students

Why will all bilingual students attend Houston Elementary?

For instructional purposes and to best utilize the resources available as well as to allow siblings to attend campus together, bilingual students will attend Houston Elementary. No additional seats are available at Houston Elementary.

Will my 4th or 5th grade student at Houston Elementary be able to stay there and finish at that campus?

Students who received letters identifying Rosa Parks Elementary as their new campus should attend Rosa Parks Elementary.

Will transportation be provided to my student’s new school?

Transportation guidelines will remain the same. If your child lives two miles or further from the assigned campus, transportation will be provided.
