What is Strategic Planning?
Strategic planning is a process and a discipline that produces a plan characterized by originality, vision, and realism. The product of the process is a plan that identifies specific desired results to which all efforts are directed toward the good of all students.
How does Strategic Planning Work?
Strategic Planning involves establishing and declaring the true aspirations for the future of the District. It begins by asking these questions:
- What kind of a school district does Lancaster ISD want to be?
- What does Lancaster ISD aspire to do as a school district?
- What learning enterprise will Lancaster ISD include to best meet the needs of our students?
The process involves establishing beliefs, mission, objectives and strategies that will guide the District. Once these have been established, they become the filter by which decisions are made in an effort to avoid being driven by fads or other district’s choices. The strategies are then developed into action plans with detailed operational steps of action for implementation of the plan toward accomplishing the mission.
