Principal's Message

  • Derek StricklinWELCOME TO LANCASTER HIGH SCHOOL!

I'm Derek Stricklin, your principal. Raised in Dallas, I moved to Lancaster after completing my 8th-grade year at W.H. Atwell Middle School. There is nothing more fulfilling than giving back to my community and serving as a principal of my alma mater. I am fully invested in my students and community. As a former student-athlete, I fully understand the importance of being well-rounded. I had great success in basketball, as it afforded me many opportunities, one of which was a scholarship to Abilene Christian University where I received my undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Wanting more, I went on to receive my Master of Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Desiring to reach more students and have a more active role in the decision-making process of the education the students received, I sought out and obtained a position of assistant principal. In 2010, I begin my administrative career at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. I was there for four years, David W. Carter High School for three years, and served as an assistant principal here, at Lancaster High School, for three years.

Now, as principal, I have an opportunity to make sure education is equitable for all students and dedicate my efforts to inspiring young minds with my experiences.
