Protocols for Disinfecting and Hand Sanitizing
General:
Frequent disinfecting and hand sanitizing will ensure health and wellness of students
and staff. Students and staff are expected to wash hands throughout the day.Hand Washing/Sanitizing Expectations:
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be available at the entry to the campus, in classrooms, in the
cafeteria and in common areas throughout the campus.
- Staff will be expected to regularly wash and sanitize their hands.
- Requirement for hand washing and/or use of LISD- provided hand sanitizer.Grades PreK through 12:
- Provide hand sanitizer upon entry to classroom and periodic teacher reminders during
instructional day.
- Thorough hand washing upon return from outdoors, before eating, after eating and following
restroom breaks.Disinfecting Expectations:
- Staff will have access to disinfectant wipes to sanitize high-touch and working surfaces and
shared objects regularly.- Staff will limit the use of shared supplies when possible.
Protocols for Campus Cleaning and Disinfecting
General:
Frequent cleaning and disinfecting will promote a healthy learning and work environment for students and staff.Daily Campus Cleaning:
- Each classroom and restroom will be disinfected daily.
- All high touch areas will be disinfected daily.
- Heavy duty disposable paper towels will be in each classroom and commom areas to maximize
room to room cleanliness.
- Custodians will wear masks and gloves during work hours.
- Campus cafeterias will be disinfected daily.
- Custodial staff will assist in cleaning and removing trash from classrooms used to eat
breakfast or lunch.
- Staff will have access to disinfectant wipes to santize working surfaces and shared objects after
each use during breaks in instruction.Additional Cleaning Measure for COVID-19 Positive Cases on Campus:
- If a classroom or facility is closed due to COVID-19 spread, the classroom or
facility will be sanitized using a disinfectant recommended by the Centers for Disease Control
for use on the virus that causes COVID-19.
- Custodial staff will sanitize and disinfect classrooms, restrooms, the athletic indoor turf field,
weight room and all additional areas in the entire building.Additional Measures for Disease Mitigation:
General:
Additional measures will be taken on campuses to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19Additional Campus Measures
- Desks and tables will be socially distanced as much as instructionally possible.
- When possible, communal supplies will be eliminated. Shared supplies should be sanitized
between use.
- Multiple locations of hand sanitizer, tissue, and trash cans will be available in several locations
throughout classrooms and common areas to limit student and staff movement.
- Each room will have a door stop to prop open for no-touch entry and exit between classes.
- High touch surfaces (i.e. table tops, chairs, door handles) will be disinfected regularly.
- For middle school and high school, lockers will not be assigned. Students will carry all needed
materials and lunch with them.
- Touchless water fountains will be installed in all campus and district buildings. Existing water
fountains will be disabled.
- Staff will limit the use of shared supplies when possible.
- Additional guidelines can be found in campus-level documents.Protocols for Transportation Cleaning, Disinfecting and Safety
General:
- Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of buses will promote a healthy and safe environment for
transporting students to and from school.
- Due to the inability to control social distancing at the bus stops and bus limitations for social
distancing, families are strongly encouraged to drop off students, carpool, or walk with their
students to school to reduce the possible virus exposure at bus stops or on the bus.
- Riding the bus is a privilege. Therefore, all students must follow the daily transportation
protocols to maintain the privilege of riding the bus.Daily Transportation Protocols:
- Students will be required to wear face coverings throughout the duration of their routes due to
the inability to social distance on buses.
- All buses will be equipped with hand sanitizer so that students can sanitize their hands when
boarding the bus.
- When possible, drivers should partially open a select number of windows to allow outside air to
circulate on the bus.
- Buses will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each bus trip, focusing on high-touch
surfaces such as bus seats, steering wheels, knobs, and door handles. During cleaning, bus
windows will be opened to allow additional air flow.
- Bus drivers will wear masks and gloves during work hours.
- Students will be reminded daily by bus drivers to social distance when loading and unloading the
bus.
- Campuses will socially distance students when they are waiting to load buses at dismissal.
