Top Lancaster ISD Students Receive a Lift to School Courtesy of the Lancaster Fire Department

Lancaster, TX/Lancaster ISD – As part of a reward from the City of Lancaster, top students in the Lancaster Independent School District will be driven to school aboard a City of Lancaster Fire Truck on June 2, the last day of school.

The selected students are considered some of the top achievers and/or student leaders at their campus, and this is one of the ways to celebrate their achievement as the district prepares to close the school year.

As part of the collaborative partnership of the City of Lancaster and Lancaster ISD, about nine students will be picked up from their Lancaster area homes between 7 AM and 8 AM and taken to their perspective campuses to start their school day. There will be an opportunity for the fire fighter staff to host a quick fire safety reminder session with some of the students on the campuses.

“We just think that it could be a really cool experience for students to experience riding in a fire truck,” City of Lancaster Fire Chief Rob Franklin said, “When I was a kid, I thought it was cool.”

Chief Franklin and his team came up with this idea to celebrate student achievement and are eager to partner with the district to highlight top scholars and student leaders.

For the past year and a half, Lancaster ISD and the City of Lancaster have united and implemented a joint strategic plan coined the Village 2020 Plan. Through the development of the plan, the school district and the city made a commitment to each other to work together — leveraging the knowledge, skills, talents and resources — to ensure that students and residents benefit from an excellent educational system and experience a quality of life that is second to none. This fire truck ride to school represents just another way that the two entities work together.
